I pay much attention to other wildlife artists’s works, my main influences being Lars Jonsson, Chris Rose, Bruce Pearson and Raymond Harris Ching. There are also others whom I have to thank a lot for their inspiring work. I recognized the importance of fieldwork but neglected this for a long time. I became especially lazy when digital photography came into the market and used my digital images, and photographs found on the internet as the main reference for my work. After a while luckily I realized that working from life cannot be set aside. Although it’s really difficult task to draw and paint animals from life, I forced myself to practice more and more. These sketches are quite quick watercolours, there’s no time for detailed paintings, but I found them really useful in my work. Here’s a selection of these sketches.
